Ready for the Cinco Ranch/Katy showdown?

Excitement is ramping up in Katy ISD for Saturday’s game between reigning 2008 district football champs Cinco Ranch High and back-to-back state football champions Katy High (2007 and 2008). The event is guaranteed to draw a large crowd and I am planning on being there!

Tickets are selling like hot potatoes now at both Cinco Ranch and Katy high schools. Students have reported that the ticket lines are running out the door! Here are the prices. The public is encouraged to purchase tickets in advance because there will be limited number at the gate. Check with the schools for times that you may purchase the tickets. Prices are: students/$4, adults/$6 and reserved/$10.

Also keep in mind that a packed game translates into a packed parking lot. So, you might want to consider carpooling to the game to be held at Rhodes Stadium.

The game will be broadcast on Channel 13’s Digital Channel. There will be a mobile video replay board for the game.

At Cinco Ranch High today, located at 23440 Cinco Ranch Boulevard, students are sporting a “Beat Katy” T-shirt in their school colors maroon and white.

At Katy High, located at 6331 Highway Blvd., there will be a lot of hootin’ and hollerin’ at a pep rally in the competition gym Friday from 10:55 a.m.-11:30 a.m. You are not going to get into this party unless you are wearing a red shirt or school spirit shirt. That can be any shirt that represents a KHS club, sport or activity.

Don't forget that Friday is early dismissal in Katy ISD -- secondary lets out at 11:35 a.m. and elementary students are in school till 12:40 p.m.

Who are the best players for these two teams? Anyone care to call this game now? Who will win and what will the score be?
