Not only is this store in my backyard but I also shop there frequently late at night. I might have to rethink those habits.
Is the crime rate increasing in the Katy area? Is this store particularly vulnerable because of its location?

Race of suspect.
The guy in the front doesn't really look like a black person to me. How about you guys? It is hard to say and at a little after mid-night who would not be a little thrown off. Hope the victim does not have major injuries.

Mixed?
I don't know, Helen; other than his "white man hairline" he looks like a black man to me. Maybe mixed race? As for your shopping habits -- GO EARLIER! :)
Hard to tell, but....
I figure the guy who got an up close look could probably tell, although there are some people of middle Eastern or Hispanic origin who might appear black, even up close. Both men look fairly light complected.
It's difficult to tell which is the guy in red and which is the guy in yellow with paisley swirls. My guess is the guy in the back is the one that was the hitter while the one in the front was the lookout. My assumption is based on the fact that the one in the front is hitching and holding his pants and they would probably fall off if he was using both hands to assault someone, making it difficult to run.
I've been to this store several times on the way to my sister's or back home, but only in daylight. Katy is a large metropolitan area on the edge of an even larger metropolitan area. Crime goes with the territory and this particular store has easy access to a couple of major thoroughfares.
Who's ready to move with me to Wyoming?

late night shopping
Catherine - I think you're right that I shall have to give up my late night shopping sprees - love how quiet the store is at that time.
INJ--I think the one in paisley is the one in the rear and that is a pretty distinct pattern making me think that someone has to look at this and realize they know these guys.
It's pretty frightening having people like this come into my neighborhood beating up residents. I hope they increase patrols at that store which also has a gas station.

I know a few "Joe Horns" - These guys better not show their faces around here anymore. Just hope they get some tips and find them. It was totally unnecessary to beat this poor man like that.
