    Devising a weight loss plan

I know when you watch TV, there is that one perfect solution they advertise that works for everyone. You just purchase the DVD, piece of exercise equipment, or book, and you will have the same results everyone else has. In reality, when devising your weight loss plan, there are many things you need to consider.

    1. Where are you starting? You have to take a look at where you currently are in order to determine where you want to go. If you are in your 20s and want to lose weight, your plan is going to look a lot different from someone who is 55 and wanting to lose weight. There are numerous things you have to take into account such as age, tissue tolerance, previous injuries, and exercise experience. After taking a careful look at where you are starting, begin making small, incremental improvements to your health.

    2. What do you want to accomplish? There are numerous goals someone can have and one plan won't help everyone achieve it. Based on what you want to accomplish with your body will determine what things you need to do. If you want to bike the MS150, you need to begin working on endurance. If you hope to increase your energy level, you will need to follow a workout program that will strengthen your body based on the activities you tend to do throughout the day. If you want to lose weight, you have to make sure you have a solid, well-balanced nutrition program. Every goal takes a multi-faceted approach to accomplish, but you should sit down and think about it before you get started.

    3. What are your time constraints? You have to be realistic with your schedule. Saying you are going to workout for an hour every day is not practical for most people. You have to make a plan based on your busiest week with the most time constraints. Any additional time you can put into your workout is considered a bonus. By building a plan on your worst week, it will keep you motivated and focused, while avoiding the frustration of missing workouts.
