Soccer fans take note: The freeze has forced adjustments in Taylor High School’s annual Mustang Classic tournament originally scheduled for this weekend.
All Friday games have been canceled, but Saturday games are still “ready and set to go” at new times, says Men’s Soccer Coach William Ward. Taylor Junior Varsity “A” will play Spring Branch Northbrook at 1 p.m. and Varsity will take the field at 3 p.m.
“From watching the weather reports, it looks like this will be the warmest part of the day, and both school (athletic directors) have said the game is a go unless the weather were to get drastically worse than it is now predicted,” Ward wrote in an e-mail early Friday afternoon.
A Thursday Varsity season opener against Bellaire already had been canceled, as was a JV-B game Friday against Morton Ranch.
Ward thanked parents and especially those who had volunteered to work in the concession booth for their patience as the coaching staff worked around the unusual weather.
Again, the schedule:
*1:00 – JVA – Taylor vs Northbrook
*3:00 – Varsity – Taylor vs Northbrook
