Whose cupcakes stand tallest in Houston?
Those bragging rights belong to Ooh La La Dessert Boutique in Katy, whose delicious, dolled-up dreamboats won both best vanilla and best chocolate cupcakes in a recent smackdown hosted by the Houston Press.
“I'm living my dream,” said Ooh La La owner Vanessa O'Donnell, a hometown Katy girl made good by swirling the creamiest frostings on the moistest cakes. “I love cupcakes. I love decorating. I love to make them. I love to eat them.”
We're right there with you, Vanessa. The cupcake craze seems to show no sign of abating, which is good news to O'Donnell, who opened her sweet shop 2½ years ago, offering cakes, pies, cheesecakes and cookies in addition to a variety of lip-smacking cupcakes.
