Crazy 8, a children's clothing chain owned by the Gymboree Corp., is making plans to open in April at LaCenterra, according to Terri Norman, the director of marketing and public relations at the lifestyle retail center.

As most of you know, LaCenterra opened just about three years ago (March 2007) in the heart of Cinco Ranch at 23501 Cinco Ranch Boulevard at the Grand Parkway adjacent to a junior high and a high school.

Norman said Gymboree has leased 2,093 square feet of the center’s space for its first Katy Crazy 8 store. Donna Keith, retail leasing representative for Vista Equities Group and LaCenterra secured the lease, she said.

From what I know about Crazy 8, the newest label in the Gymboree Corporation's family of brands, is that it has a lower price point than Gymboree just like Old Navy is the lower-priced version of Gap. Crazy 8 launched in August 2007 opening about 10 stores.

According to Norman:

Crazy 8, offers “great kids’ fashion at crazy low prices” in sizes ranging from 0-14. The store features apparel and accessories designed for every facet of a kid’s busy life – from school day to at-play. Crazy 8 gives customers the quality they have come to expect from Gymboree at a price point that fits the family budget. There are currently 37 Crazy 8 stores across the country, including four in the greater Houston area and an online store at www.crazy8.com.

At the end of October 2009, the company operated a total of 951 stores across the U.S., Canada and in Puerto Rico. There is an online store at www.gymboree.com and approximately 112 Gymboree Outlet stores. The company also offers Janie and Jack shops featuring clothing and accessories sizes preemie to eight online, and preemie through six in shops. Janie and Jack shops are located nationwide and online at www.janieandjack.com.
