There is a "severe weather update" on the Katy ISD Web site at http://www.katyisd.org/EM/Pages/Weather.aspx

A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service starting at 2 p.m. today, lasting through 6 a.m. Wednesday. Katy ISD officials are keeping a close eye on the situation in order to determine what impact there may be on district operations, including scheduled extracurricular activities.

District officials are actively monitoring several sources of weather information including the National Weather Service, Impact Weather and local media. In addition, Katy ISD police officers will be on patrol throughout the evening on Tuesday and early Wednesday morning to ensure that roads, bridges and overpasses are safe for both buses and student drivers.

Should inclement weather necessitate a change in district’s normal operation schedule on Wednesday morning, Katy ISD will notify all major metro-area media. A notice also will be posted on the Katy ISD Web site at www.katyisd.org.

Please check back for any updates. Also, if you notice any weather conditions that you would like to tell us about in your area, please e-mail me at helen.eriksen@chron.com

    Keep warm and dry!!
