Kevin Blaine Pering has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The 46-year-old Katy resident was charged with sexually abusing a distant relative for several years.
The fourth annual Heart of Katy Fun Run & Walk took place last Saturday, beginning with a balloon release in honor of those affected by heart disease. Race honoree and Katy resident Tyler Kirkpatrick started the 5K race and the family walk, while the Chick-fil-A Cow kicked off the kid’s race.

Was Pering sentenced to 20 yrs or two 20 yr sentences? The penultimate paragraph in the full article implies he will serve two consecutive 20 yr sentences. Personally, I think it's a shame he's eligible for parole.
