Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors’ Rosemary Derstler earns Seniors Real Estate Specialist Designation

Rosemary Derstler, GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute), has earned the Seniors Real Estate Specialist Designation. Derstler operates out of Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors’ Katy office and is a member of the Katy Home Connections team.

Derstler said that because the 50-plus age group represents more than 20 percent of the current population, it is essential that real estate professionals understand the unique goals, concerns and needs of senior adults today.

“For most seniors, their homes are their largest asset and account for most of their net worth,” said Derstler, who has the resources to help seniors deal with the housing options now available to them. These choices include age-restricted communities, age-in-place designs, and assisted living. She helps seniors connect with the help they may need with applications of the Housing for Older Persons Act, the ins and outs of reverse mortgages and the use of pensions, 401k accounts and IRAs in real estate transactions.

A Realtor for the past three years, Derstler is a veteran of corporate America and is familiar with what it means to move to an entirely new environment. “I am pleased to be able to help older clients. My primary mission is that of a counselor to those beginning a new phase in their lives. I listen carefully and provide the information they need to make the process as stress-free as possible.”

“Rosemary makes the process of buying or selling a home easier and more enjoyable for all of her clients,” said Tracy Bogiel, manager of Prudential Gary Greene Realtors’ Katy office, “and it is especially appreciated by seniors. She is a great asset to our office.”
