Republicans compete in runoff for JP

Katy-area Republicans will be asked to return to the polls on April 13 to determine who will be the next Harris County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 5, Place 2.

Two candidates survived the March 2 primary from a field of four candidates. No Democrats are running for the position.

Incumbent Justice of the Peace Bill Yeoman is retiring from the position he has held since 1979.

The GOP candidates are Jeff Williams, 54, an attorney, who received 41.7 percent of the vote in the March 2 primary, and George Huntoon, 38, real estate broker, who received 30.2 percent of the vote.

Early voting for the runoff starts April 5 and ends April 9.
