Katy police recently arrested three people on drug-related charges in separate incidents.
Police were called at 11:50 a.m. on Feb. 26 to the 1800 block of Heights in regards to a suspicious male knocking on the door repeatedly, said Capt. Byron Woytek.
They found a man in the street as well as his car parked nearby in the right of way. Officers said they saw in plain view three marijuana pipes and a marijuana grinder.
Arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and brought to the city jail was Frederick Fields, 23, of Katy, Woytek said.
On Feb. 24, police made an 8:35 a.m. traffic stop on Morrison at Katyland. Police detected the odor of burnt marijuana and after conducting a search found a burnt marijuana joint.
Arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, was Curtis Graham, 28, of Houston. He was transported to the city jail, said Woytek.
The third drug-related drug arrested occurred in the 2700 block of Carson about 4:11 a.m. Feb. 22. On routine patrol, the officer found a vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection and a white male passed out on the driver’s seat, Woytek said. Upon investigation, the officer found the man to be in possession of crystal meth.
Roberto Diaz, 27, of Katy was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and was transported to the Harris County jail, Woytek said.
Graffiti
Police have no suspects in two cases of graffiti reported on Feb. 22, Woytek said. Graffiti was found on a west exterior wall of a restroom at Katy City Park, 5720 Franz Road, he said. An employee of the Katy Branch Library, 5414 Franz Road, reported to police finding graffiti on the back of a men’s restroom door.
“It’s nothing gang related,” Woytek said. “It’s just kids being destructive.”
Stolen vehicle
On Feb. 22, police were called about 11 a.m. to the 1200 block of Avenue B. The owner of an auto shop abandoned for two years told police he came to clean up the property and found a vehicle inside. Checking the vehicle identification number, police found the vehicle had been reported stolen by the La Marque Police Department.
Theft
Police have no suspects in the theft of a catalytic converter reported at 1:40 p.m. Feb. 22 in the 5000 block of Morrison Boulevard. The complainant called police after her car started making a really loud noise. The car had been parked on the street and the theft was thought to have occurred overnight, Woytek said.
Police were called at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27 to Burlington Coat Factory in Katy Mills mall after the store’s loss prevention officers observed a woman putting undergarments in her purse and then leaving without paying for them. Arrested on a charge of Class B theft was Liliana Ferman, 18, of Houston.
