Athlete: Julie Stayton
Achievement: The senior won the 148-pound state championship with a 13-4 victory over former 148 state champ Breena Maul of Tascosa.

Athlete: Tamyra Mensah
Achievement: The junior dropped down in weight class and won the 138-pound state championship – the school’s first girls state gold – by pinning Hereford’s China Saucedo.
Cinco Ranch
SWIMMING
Athlete: Jason Ting
Achievement: The junior won the only gold medal for Katy ISD at the state swim meet, finishing with a time of 55.99 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke.
