Some Texas residents have signed up for or on the waiting list for a rebate from $23 million in stimulus funds from the U.S. Department of Energy. You are eagerly awaiting the purchase period beginning on April 16 (this Friday!) and ending April 25, 2010 to buy your eco-friendly appliance to replace the old energy hog. You can only purchase in store because online purchases do not qualify.
Don't wait.
Go ahead and hit the vendor of your choice. More likely than not, they will be more than happy to sell you one, but not place the order until Friday morning. This happened at Sears for a friend of mine and he is happy to be avoiding potential crowds.
If you want more detailed information on the program hit the link.
If you can't make it or insist on being there the morning of, Sears is opening early.

remember
before you get excited and buy all these new appliances, this is a government run program. remember, cash for clunkers, fannie mae, freddie mac, the auto bailout, and the bank bailouts. they are giving you about 1/10th of the price of the new appliance. the government is doing this for their benefit, not yours.
