Hope Annelisa Harris, a 7th grader at McMeans Junior High, will be performing the role of Annie in the musical "Annie" at the historical Crighton Theater in Conroe, Texas. Stage Right is producing the musical and it is being directed by Tina Cafeo. Hope has performed the role twice before, once at the Berry Center last winter and recently in Playhouse 1960's production of Annie Jr. She is thrilled to be doing the role again, especially in such a beautiful theater with such an experienced cast, some with worldwide experience. Hope has been performing since she was 8 years old, including many local festivals like the Katy Rice Harvest Festival. She won a Radio Disney singing competition and recently has been involved with many community theater productions such as, Annie, Annie Junior, Alice in Wonderland, and Willy Wonka. Besides performing in theater productions, she has begun training in the tech, sound booth, prop and set design. Other cast members include: Yvonne Nelson (Miss Hannigan) has done many summer stock theater productions and has also worked with TUTS. She has played both Maria and Mother Abbess in "The Sound of Music". Harold E. Wood Jr. (Daddy Warbucks) has performed at the Crighton Theater recently in "Lend Me a Tenor". He has also performed many summers with the internationally recognized Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston. Julia Stinson (Grace Farrell) has studied opera in Vienna, Austria and performed in Eastern Europe. Her recent local performances have include "Once Upon a Mattress" and "A Midnight Summmer's Dream". Tommy Hunter (Rooster) has been performing since he was seven years old, most recently at the Crighton in "Lend Me A Tenor". Maredith Zaritski (Lily) has recently performed at the Crighton in "Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge". She has also performed in "Annie Get Your Gun" and "Greese". She has local Katy ties. Her mother resides in Katy. Kathleen Zaritski is the Head Costumer and has worked on productions such as "Oklahoma". Hope shares the role of Annie with a talented young actress from the Woodlands, Kaylie King. Kaylie has perfomed in many musical productions, including Stage Right's "Cheaper By The Dozen". Hope's performance dates are July 23, 31 and August 6, 8th. Kaylie performance dates are July 24, 30 and August 1, 7th. Both girls have worked really hard this summer and are ready to give you a truly wonderful performance. Their voices rival anything you will hear on Broadway. But, another star in this production is the Crighton Theater itself. It was built in 1934 and is known as "The Jewel of Montgomery County". She is a beauty and is worth the drive to Conroe just to experience sitting in her seats. So if you enjoy local history and/or musical theater you will not find a better local place to come spend some time. Tickets can be purchased online at www.crightontheater.org. One way to get there is to take 45 and then after the Woodlands take the 75/360 exit. Stay to the right and the street will divide into Main Street. After the railroad tracks, the theater will be to the right. Park anywhere around the town square and get ready to enjoy the experience of stepping back into time and a don't miss musical that will have you smiling all the way back to Katy.
