    A Katy mom made a gruesome discovery when she arrived home just before 7 p.m. Friday. She found her 18-year-old-son had been stabbed to death. His body was in the living room of their home in the 600 block of Copper Creek, officials said.

    Students in the Katy Independent School District may need to bring an extra quarter to school beginning in August to pay for an increase in the price of a cafeteria lunch.

    The district is considering hiking prices for the first time in seven years due to rising costs of labor, food and kitchen supplies among other factors to prevent a budget deficit, officials said.

    Kudos to Morton Ranch High School’s newspaper staff for recently winning second place in a national contest. The event was based on journalistic and production skills such as writing, editing, photography, design, and coverage.

    An 8-year-old Katy girl was killed over the weekend in Louisiana on Interstate-10 near the Gross Tete exit. Her father Steven Key was driving a 2005 Toyota Sequoia at the time of the accident, according to reports.

    Longtime Katy ISD school board Trustee Joe Adams won another three-year term Saturday capturing 1217 votes to challenger Henry Dibrell’s 527 in the May 8 election. A total of 1,744 ballots were cast in all.
