Tamyra Mensah won her title in the 138-pound weight class after finishing second 10 pounds heavier last year. Katy High's Julie Slaton (148) and Christian Cochran (119) also won state titles.

Katy began another run through the playoffs Saturday afternoon with 49-14 win over Stratford at Rhodes Stadium. Will Jeffery led the way with touchdown runs of 38, 69 and 86 yards. The Tigers move on to the second round to play Atascocita in the Class 5A Division II playoffs.
