Carter William Jurica went 0 for 5, scored a run and was walked once in the San Jose Giants's 14-12 loss to the Stockton Ports on Thursday. Jurica graduated from Katy High School.
Jurica is a 2007 graduate of Katy High School. He went on to play college baseball at Kansas State for three seasons (2008 to 2010) posting a career average of .333 with 20 home runs and 131 RBIs. As a junior, 2010, Jurica was named a Big XII Conference all-star left fielder after batting .363 with 13 homers and 69 RBIs. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the third round (105th overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. Jurica played 62 games during 2010 with the Giants Low Single-A affiliate, Salem-Kaiser, of the Northwest League. He batted .216 with three home runs and 31 RBIs. Jurica was born Sept. 23, 1988 in Houston.
