Pro Baseball: Carter William Jurica, San Jose Giants

Carter William Jurica went 3 for 5 with one RBI in the San Jose Giants's 7-5 loss at the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Sunday. Jurica graduated from Katy High School.

Jurica is a 2007 graduate of Katy High School. He went on to play college baseball at Kansas State for three seasons (2008 to 2010) posting a career average of .333 with 20 home runs and 131 RBIs. As a junior, 2010, Jurica was named a Big XII Conference all-star left fielder after batting .363 with 13 homers and 69 RBIs. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the third round (105th overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. Jurica played 62 games during 2010 with the Giants Low Single-A affiliate, Salem-Kaiser, of the Northwest League. He batted .216 with three home runs and 31 RBIs. Jonathan M. Meloan went 0 for 0 in the Midland RockHounds's 8-4 loss to the Frisco RoughRiders on Sunday. Meloan graduated from Katy Taylor High School.

Meloan is a 2002 graduate of Taylor High School. He pitched three seasons (2003 to 2005) at the University of Arizona going 24-4 with two saves for the Wildcats in his career. Meloan made 57 appearances (32 starts) during his time in Arizona compiling a career ERA of 4.14. He recorded 247 strikeouts in 248 innings. As a sophomore (2004) Meloan went 10-0 with a 4.66 ERA and he followed that up with a 10-3 campaign with a 3.70 ERA as a senior (2005) when he struck out 130. Raynor Oran Campbell went 2 for 5 with one RBI in the Augusta GreenJackets's 7-0 loss at the Greenville Drive on Sunday. Campbell graduated from Katy Taylor High School.

Campbell is a 2006 graduate of Taylor High School who went on to play four seasons (2007 to 2010) of college baseball at Baylor. He played in 208 career games for the Bears posting a batting average of .305 with 24 homers and 127 RBIs. He was taken by San Francisco in the 14th round (438th overall) in the 2010 draft. He began his pro career that year with Salem-Kaizer of the Northwest League (short-season class-A) batting .261 with three home runs and 22 RBIs in 45 games.
