Do you have old documents or files that you would like to make disappear?

You can load up as much as you want and shred it for $5 a box at Tradition Bank on Saturday. The bank, located at 2117 North Fry Road in Katy, is hosting a community-wide shred day to benefit the Special Pals Shelter.

On Jan. 31 and Feb. 6, scouts from Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 780 collected more than 500 pounds of food donations in the Rosewood neighborhood of Cinco Ranch. This service project commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America and also provided the Scouts an opportunity to support Katy Christian Ministries and the Houston Food Bank’s Super Bowl of Caring.

Area volunteers are gearing up for the fifth annual Katy ServeFest to help with local projects on Feb. 27 and March 6. Participating volunteers will receive a one-day admission ticket to the Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney Resort free through the 'Give a Day, Get a Disney Day' promotion.

Photo by Suzanne RehakThe stay-at-home mom was on a mission trip in Haiti about five years ago with her husband, Bret, and only expected to minister to the needs of children in the impoverished country.

Her plans never included adoption but she said God changed her mind.
