Beck JH participates in Mathcounts competition

Students on the Beck Junior High Mathcounts team participated in competitions this year showcasing their math skills.

In the Rocket Mini-Mathcounts competition on Nov. 12 at the Toyota Center, Hannah Liu received a second place award and Kristy Chang placed third.

The Mathcounts team also participated in a mini-competition in Sugarland on Jan. 14. In this competition Kristy Chang placed first in the 6th-grade category and tenth place overall. Hannah Liu was awarded second place in the 6th-grade category and 16th place overall.

The Greater Houston Chapter Mathcounts Competition was held on Feb. 4 at Fluor Corp. The team placed 10th overall in this competition.

Mathcounts is a nationwide program promoting excellence in math for junior high students with a series of competitions at local, state and national levels.
