The Solana lifestyle proves to be the right retirement choice for couple
A little over two years ago, Lillian and Chet Tigard were living in the Sugar Land house they’d been in for 40 years when someone offered to buy the home.
At first, Lillian Tigard was resistant; eventually, however, the couple sold. Ultimately, it proved to be the correct decision.
Now residents of The Solana at Cinco Ranch, the Tigards are part of a senior-living community that is dedicated to delivering the best in senior living by offering a vibrant lifestyle with a passion for extraordinary service and personalized attention.
“It was one of the best decisions I ever made,” Lillian Tigard said of selling the couple’s house. “I got rid of a lot of stress from owning a home, just maintaining it, taking care of it, all those things that I was having to take care of.”
Based on the two-plus years Lillian and Chet Tigard have been at The Solana at Cinco Ranch, the decision looks even better.
As the Tigards were moving and their children were helping the couple downsize, Lillian Tigard began realizing life could be easier and more simple with the community of support at The Solana at Cinco Ranch.
That has proven to be the case.
“When I came over here, it felt like finally I’d retired,” Lillian Tigard said. “I no longer had to do major grocery shopping, figure out what was for dinner and things like that. I got rid of a lot stress.”
The Tigards looked at a number of communities before moving to The Solana at Cinco Ranch, but Lillian Tigard said the amenities — such as a fitness center, The Crescent Cafe, The Signature Restaurant, Sedona Salon & Spa, and much more — helped make the decision an easy one.
“What I liked about The Solana it was more like moving to a resort,” Lillian Tigard said. “I sort of feel like I am on a cruise. It’s just having not having to worry about anything and just enjoying life.”
Lillian Tigard said she and Chet appreciate the helpful and trustworthy staff at The Solana at Cinco Ranch, which has made their lives easier. Additionally, the home health service has proven an important benefit for Chet Tigard.
Also, Lillian Tigard said the community has made The Solana at Cinco Ranch particularly enjoyable.
“Now I have more friends than I’ve ever had,” she said. “All the people here you get to care about and get to know. All of a sudden you have new friends. Most of these people are so interesting.”
Thanks to all of that, a decision Lillian and Chet Tigard were reluctant to make over 2.5 years ago is now one Lillian Tigard wishes they had made sooner.
“I wish I would have started living this kind of life faster because I think we would have had more time to enjoy life more,” she said. “I think sometimes seniors wait too long, until they are in bad health, and that sort of limits them. I think it just gets rid of all that kind of stressful stuff.”
