Man claims Katy constable took his SUV
A man is suing after a county constable allegedly took his SUV.
Mohamed Tibi filed suit in Harris County District Court on Oct. 15, stating that Phil Camus, Harris County Constable, and Pharia LLC failed to honor his right to possess a car he lawfully owned.
According to the suit, Camus, on behalf of debt collection company Pharia, unlawfully took Tibis 2001 GMC Yukon from him. The Yukon was previously owned by Maen Taybi, who allegedly stopped making payments on the vehicle. Tibi, unaware that Camus had unlawfully repossessed the car, reported it stolen once he discovered it missing, the suit claims.
In his suit, Tibi alleges he suffered financial damages due to Pharias illegal and deceptive business practices.
It was the responsibility of Phil Camus, Harris County Constable, and Pharia, he says, to check their facts before taking his car illegally.
Tibi is being represented by Houston attorney L. Garth White. He is seeking the return of the car, compensatory and punitive damages, attorneys fees, and court costs.
