Katy sales tax revenues down following record month
After six months of improvements, Katy this month collected lower sales tax revenues than it did in the same month of the previous year.
In March, the city brought in $567,507.73. That's somewhat lower than the March 2010 total of $679,481.55. It's also lower than the February tax revenue of $1,183,067.89, though a decrease from February to March is not unusual. Furthermore, February was the city's best month ever for sales tax revenue, the first time Katy collected more than one million dollars in a single month.
Though the March revenue total is down from last year, it is still higher than the numbers for March 2009 or 2008.
The local sales tax rate for Katy is 8.25 percent in Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties. The city's share is one penny on every dollar.
