Cost of gas up nine cents this week in Katy, still less than Houston

Average gas prices in Katy are on the rise, but they are still about a penny cheaper than the rest of the Houston area, according to data from price-tracking website GasBuddy.com.

As of March 14, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the city is $3.42, an average of locally reported figures shows. That's up about nine cents from last week.

Katy's price is roughly the same as the Texas average of $3.430 per gallon and a little bit less expensive than the average prices for the Houston area ($3.439) and the United States ($3.532).

The cheapest price for gas in Katy remains $3.25 per gallon, which was recently reported at the Mobil station at 811 Avenue D.

According to the site, the city's most expensive gas station also remains the same: the Shell station at 23255 Kingsland Boulevard, now charging $3.59 per gallon.
