Local HS grads shine in Howard Payne, Texas Lutheran softball showdown
Several local High School graduates faced off in a college softball showdown on Thursday, with Texas Lutheran falling to Howard Payne, 5-4.
Morton Ranch High School graduate Kayla McMillan went one-for-three with an RBI in the defeat. At Morton Ranch, McMillan was named Second Team All District 2008. She was named Academic All State 2009. McMillan is the Daughter of Charles and Michelle McMillan.
Another Morton Ranch graduate, Melissa Stewart, went two-for-three with a run scored for Texas Lutheran. At Morton Ranch, Stewart earned the Silver Slugger Award as a senior and was an Academic All-District selection as both a junior and senior. Stewart is the daughter of Scott and Anita Stewart and is majoring in kinesiology.
Jersey Village High School graduate Stephanie Childs had a hit and drove in a run in the loss.
Cy Springs High School graduate Brittany Upton singled and scored another run for Texas Lutheran. Upton played at Cy Springs from 2005-2009. She was a four-time First-Team All-District player. She is the daughter of Greg and Robin Wollin.
Klein Forest High School graduate Elizabeth Alvarado went two-for-four, scored a run, and stole a base for Howard Payne in the win.
