27 high school bands compete
Tomball and Langham Creek high school bands were among the top winners at the 26th annual Katy Independent School District Invitational Marching Festival, said Bob Bryant, KISD executive director of fine arts. "Music ranged from very contemporary original compositions written specifically for a marching band field production to jazz standards to melodies and medleys of songs depicting our American heritage to selections from classical band and orchestra literature," Bryant said. A panel of University Interscholastic League judges evaluates the components of the performances such as individual and ensemble marching execution, percussion and the color guard visual impact and execution, Bryant said.
