Local Scouts earn highest rank
Michael Gilbert, Ryan Goodwin and Ian Johnecheckall, of Katy Boy Scout Troop 209, have each achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Michael Gilbert, Ryan Goodwin and Ian Johnecheckall, of Katy Boy Scout Troop 209, have each achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Each Scout demonstrated leadership skills and proficiency with a community service project and was honored at an Eagle Scout Award Court of Honor ceremony.
The three began scouting in 2000 as Tiger Cubs in Cub Scout Troop 295.
Gilbert attends Midwestern State University. His project benefited St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church's Youth Program.
Goodwin attends the University of Arkansas. His project benefited the Katy Heritage Society.
Johnecheck attends the University of Oklahoma. His project benefited the Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition.
Troop 209, sponsored by St. Peter's United Methodist Church, was established in 1939. Since then, 138 of its members have become Eagle Scouts.
