Katy resident sues over car shipment to Kazakhstan
A Katy man has filed suit after paying more than $11,000 to have cars shipped to Kazakhstan.
Katy resident Alexander Popov filed a lawsuit Feb. 6 in Harris County District Court against Ahmad Ibrahim El-Saleh and Marina Ways Group, citing violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, common law fraud, negligence and breach of contract.
Popov claims on Nov. 4, 2010, he paid the defendants to deliver a shipment of cars, including a Mercedes, Lexus and Toyota Camry, to Kazakhstan, but the cars only made it to Riga, Latvia.
Popov is seeking damages, attorney's fees and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Michael Hanten.
