Science Olympiad Regional Tournament to be held in Katy
Beckendorff Junior High, at 8200 South Fry Road, in Katy, will host the Katy Regional Science Olympiad Tournament on March 3.
More than 1,000 junior high and high school students from all across Texas will be participating at the scientific competition. They will be divided into approximately 15 junior high teams and 15 high school teams, all of which will be vying for a spot in the next state meet.
Scott Lightle, a science teacher at Beckendorff Junior High, is known for having pioneered Science Olympiad activities within Katy ISD, and has been coaching BDJH teams successfully in Science Olympiad competitions for many years.
Most regionals typically take place at college campuses. The Katy Regional Science Olympiad Tournament will be the first one to take place and be run by a public school. For more information, visit www.bdjhscienceolympiad.org.
