Katy mayor encourages support during Tremor Awareness Month
Katy Mayor Don Elder, left, proclaimed March as ET National Awareness Month at the Katy city council meeting February 27.
In observance of National Essential Tremor Awareness Month, Katy Mayor Don Elder, Jr. read a proclamation at the Feb. 27 city council meeting encouraging the public to support the Katy Tremor Support Group in March and throughout the year in its efforts to raise awareness and funding for research of the disease, which affects 10 million people.
ET, which Elder says is often misdiagnosed as Parkinson’s disease, can significantly affect a person’s life emotionally, socially and professionally. Elder said the condition can cause a person to have trouble with everyday tasks, such as eating, writing, speaking, drinking and even getting dressed.
To learn more about the disease, visit www.essentialtremor.org or call 888-387-3667.
