Katy HS grad Michael Fuda and Rice fall to East Carolina
Katy high school graduate Michael Fuda had a good day, but Rice fell, 4-2, to East Carolina on the college diamond Sunday.
Fuda went 2-for-4 in the loss.
Fuda is a 2007 graduate of Katy High School where he starred on the diamond and gridiron.
As a senior, 2006-2007, he earned all-America honors from Louisville Slugger as a second baseman. Fuda earned first-team 5A all-state recognition following his senior and junior, 2005-2006, seasons.
On the football field playing for coach Gary Joseph, he was a unanimous all-District 18-5A selection at wide receiver and kick returner as a senior, when he was also named third-team 5A all-state at kick returner by Dave Campbell's Texas Football.
As a senior he caught 44 passes for 738 yards and eight scores. As a junior he hauled in 62 passes for 1,399 yards and 19 touchdowns to earn first-team all-state honors and land on the Dallas Morning News Hot 100 and Rivals.com Texas 100.
Born Jan. 13, 1989, in Chicago the son on Frank and Rita Fuda, he is in the Sid Richardson College at Rice.
