Katy Aquatics receives grant money
The USA Swimming Foundation has awarded a $12,000 grant to KATY Aquatics in support of the organization's learn-to-swim programming.
Funding will be used to expand the current financial assistance available, offering reducer swim lessons to 40 children who qualify. The program is part of an outreach effort to increase underprivileged swimming participation in the community and educate parents through the Make a Splash agenda, a child-focused water safety campaign.
KATY Aquatics currently serves more than 400 students through the SwimAmerica program. The program emphasizes water safety skills to children of all backgrounds.
A free Make A Splash Water Safety Event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon May 19 at Cinco Ranch High School Natatorium, located at 23440 Cinco Ranch Blvd. For more information, visit www.katyaquatics.org.
