Cinco Ranch High School students win national title
The Moonwalking Manakins from Cinco Ranch High School have captured the national title in the Conrad Foundation's Spirit of Innovation Competition in the Aerospace Exploration division.
The team consists of Pedro de Souza, Philippa Hack and Camilo Ruiz, all of whom were invited to the NASA Ames Research Center in California to present their design for an external pace maker meant to eliminate muscle atrophy in astronauts.
The students met with dozens of engineers, CEOs and patent lawyers to discuss how to bring their idea to the market. The team plans to use their $5,000 prize to continue development, get a patent and create a working prototype.
