Katy HS grad Andrew Stumph leads Texas State to victory
Katy high school graduate Andrew Stumph had a great game, as Texas State beat Lamar, 10-6, in college baseball Friday. Stumph went 2-for-4 with three runs scored in the victory.
Stumph is a 2009 graduate of Katy High School where he was a four-year letter winner and three-time All-State honoree playing for coach Tom McPherson. As a senior (2008-2009) he earned District MVP honors and was an All-American honorable mention selection for the second year in a row after receiving the recognition as a junior (2007-2008) when Stumph was also named first-team All-District.
As a sophomore (2006-2007) he also earned first-team All-District honors, and as a freshman (2005-2006) he was named the All-Greater Houston co-Newcomer of the Year. The son of Joe Stumph and Janet Morrow, Stumph is majoring in exercise and sports science.
