Gas prices in and around Katy were lower compared with the averages for Houston and the country as a whole this week, according to data from the price-tracking website gasbuddy.com.

Visitors to the gasbuddy.com website reported rates for 60 gas stations in and around Katy. As of Saturday, May 19, the average price of regular unleaded gas in Katy is $3.561 per gallon. Gasbuddy.com listed the Texas average at $3.502, Houston average at $3.567, and the nationwide average at $3.703.

The average gas price in Katy last week was $3.648 per gallon.

The least expensive gas price in Katy is reported to be $3.47 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas, which gasbuddy.com contributors logged as being available at Shell, 6201 N. Fry Road and Lake Stockton Falls Drive; and KK Mart, 653 Pin Oak Road and Roberts Road.

Gasbuddy.com users reported the most expensive gas price in the area at $3.63, which was being sold at four gas stations.
