Solana at Cinco Ranch honors veterans
Staff of The Solana at Cinco Ranch take pride in celebrating Memorial Day with its residents, many of whom are veterans.
The Solana at Cinco Ranch held a Memorial Day celebration for its 50 resident veterans on May 19.
The program began with a flag ceremony by the Army Color Guard, followed by a 21-gun salute and a bugler playing "Taps."
After that was a flyover in a vintage World War II aircraft by the West Houston Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force while the "The Star-Spangled Banner" was sung.
Military vehicles from World War II were on display in the parking lot as well.
The event ended with a barbecue dinner and USO-style show.
Executive Director Nick Roccaforte said, "This is one of the most significant and meaningful events we put on each year. It is our way of honoring our greatest generation and the sacrifices they made so we can stand here today and enjoy the freedom for which they fought.”
The Solana at Cinco Ranch is located at 24001 Cinco Village Center Blvd., Katy.
