Katy HS grad Carter Jurica contributes in loss against Bakersfield
Katy High School graduate Carter Jurica played well, but the San Jose Giants fell to the Bakersfield Blaze, 10-4, Friday, June 1 in minor league baseball action.
Jurica, a second baseman, went 2-for-4 in the loss. On the season, Jurica is batting .256 with 20 RBIs.
Jurica is a 2007 graduate of Katy High School. He went on to play college baseball at Kansas State
for three seasons (2008 to 2010) posting a career average of .333 with 20 home runs and 131 RBI. As a junior, Jurica was named all-star left fielder in the Big XII Conference after batting .363 with 13 homers and 69 RBI.
He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the third round (105th overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. Jurica played 62 games during 2010 with the Giants Low Single-A affiliate, Salem-Kaiser, of the Northwest League. He batted .216 with three home runs and 31 RBIs. Jurica was born Sept. 23, 1988 in Houston.
