Eighteen runners from Katy complete Impact a Hero 5K Run
Eighteen runners from Katy completed the Impact a Hero 5K Run on June 2 in Sugar Land.
Jacob Gilmore, 29, and Joe Delamore, 43, were among the fastest Katy runners to finish. They completed the race in 22:24:00 and 25:02:00, respectively. Sixteen other local runners also crossed the finish line.
A total of 938 runners finished the 5K race, which was held in Mercer Stadium. The goal of the race is to bring a "Message of Appreciation" to troops who participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Kipkirui Ruttoh, 26, was the men's overall winner with a time of 15:06:00, while Emily Shulik, 22, was the women's winner in 19:04:00.
