Katy's YMCA camps filled with adventure, discovery

Katy YMCA lets children ages 6-12 dabble with and explore lots of possibilities with its summer day camps, featuring water games, sports, crafts, animals and more.

Katy YMCA lets children ages 6-12 dabble with and explore lots of possibilities with its summer day camps, featuring water games, sports, crafts, animals and more.

The Katy Family YMCA, located at 22807 Westheimer Parkway in Katy, is offering several weeklong summer day camps for children ages 6-12.

Sessions are Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through Aug. 24. The cost per camp is $160 for facility members and $200 for program members.

The schedule for the day camps is as follows: July 2-6, Messy Madness; July 9-13, Are We There Yet?; July 16-20, Backwards Bonanza; July 23-27, Splash and Dash; July 30 to Aug. 3, 2012 Summer Games; July 6-10, King Tut's Tomb; Aug. 13-17, Call of the Wild; and Aug. 20-24, Camp's Most Wanted.

Also, a dance camp will take place from 1-3 p.m. July 9-13 in the Cummins Room at the Katy YMCA. Erin Stanley, a teacher with 10 years of experience, will lead campers in various dance styles including hip-hop, jazz, modern dance and ballet. Campers must be from 6-14 years old as of the first day of the camp. Only program and facility members may participate. The cost is $60 for facility members and $90 for program members.
