Katy ISD offering free summer lunches

This summer, the Katy Independent School District will once again participate in the USDA Summer Food Program at four district schools.

The program is free to any child younger than the age of 18, and lunch will only be served to children who come and eat in the school cafeteria. Parents who bring their child can buy a meal for $2.75.

The meals will be similar to what is served during the school year.

Schools participating include Franz Elementary, located at 2751 Westgreen Blvd.; King Elementary, located at 1901 Charlton House Lane; Raines High School, located at 1732 Katyland Drive; and McDonald Junior High, located at 3635 Lakes of Bridgewater Drive.

Franz and King will serve lunch from 10-11 a.m. Monday through Thursday now through July 11. There will be no lunch served July 4-6. Lunch-goers are asked to enter the schools from the outside door to the cafeteria and to look for the Summer Food service poster.

Raines has lunch from 10-11 a.m. Monday through Thursday, ending July 13. No lunch is offered on Fridays, with the exception of July 13. Lunch will also not be served from July 4-6. Enter the school from the front door, and look for the Summer Food service poster.

Lastly, McDonald Junior High will serve lunch from 10-11 a.m. Monday through Thursday now until Thursday, June 28. Enter the school from the outside door to the cafeteria, and find the serving line.
