Katy runners complete Dad's Day 5K
Fifty-two runners from Katy completed the Dad's Day 5K on Saturday, June 16 in Houston.
The top 10 runners from Katy are: Michael Quinones Jr., 15, (17:04); Nicholas Brown, 30, (20:54); Derek Hartmann, 25, (21:30); Francisco Balbueno, 59, (22:39); Melisa Landry, 33, (22:46); Barry Chavez, 32, (23:17); Todd Read, 37, (23:44); Fiona Gordon, 53, (24:07); Ryan Rebarcak, 32, (25:09); and Steve Hewson, 47, (25:20); Forty other local runners also crossed the finish line.
A total of 860 runners finished the 5K race, which started and ended on Prairie under the Wortham Arch. The course is USATF-certified.
Maximo Mendoza, of Pearland was the men’s overall winner with a time of 15:41, while Lauren Smith of Lake Jackson was the women’s winner in 17:23.
