Katy ISD Board of Trustees meeting minutes released on June 18

Minutes from the June 18 meeting of the Katy ISD Board of Trustees have been released.

The board was provided with the annual state testing update on the transition from TAKS to STAARS by Freda Creech.

Chief academic officer Christine Caskey gave the teaching and learning report to the board, which highlighted how the division promotes student growth through classroom instruction.

Brian Malechuk was approved to serve as executive director of special education. He brings more than 25 years of experience to the position.

Funding for new sidewalks, estimated at $625,000, was approved to cover construction in critical areas.

The purchase of replacement band instruments and uniforms for the new school year was approved. Many of the current instruments are more than 25 years old.
