Taylor High School marching band to stage March-A-Thon

The Taylor High School marching band and color guard will be performing their fundraising March-A-Thon from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 18 through the neighborhoods around their high school starting at Memorial Parkway Junior High, 21203 Highland Knolls, in Katy.

The JET band will perform music for the 2012 marching season and finish the March-A-Thon with a celebration at the high school.

According to Chris Bailey, director of bands, the musicians have several goals for the March-A-Thon. They are to provide entertainment, thank the community that has supported them and raise money for the upcoming season.

Donations will be accepted for the total distance the band marches. The 300-piece band will perform in personal concerts of songs selected by residents or cul-de-sacs along the route for any donation of at least $150. Songs have to be selected by a list that will be provided.

Money raised by the JET band will help them compete at contests in Katy, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Orlando.

Contact Chris Bailey or Holly Meredith at christopherGbailey@katyisd.org or htmeredith@sbcglobal.net, respectively, for a personal concert.
