St. Bartholomew accepting applications for new kindergarten transition class
The new kindergarten transition class at St. Bartholomew Catholic Preschool begins Sept. 4 and is designed to be a bridge between preschool and kindergarten for children not yet ready or old enough for kindergarten.
“St. Bartholomew’s offers the only Catholic preschool in Katy, and we strongly believe in the value of quality education and Catholic faith formation in the early years,” said Father John Kha Tran in a press release. “We had parishioners come to us whose children needed this transition year before kindergarten, and we are very happy to respond to that need.”
Curriculum includes Frog Street Pre-K, a comprehensive program that integrates instruction into several early learning disciplines. Also, several new learning opportunities will be available in subjects, including Spanish, religion, music, motor lab and cooking classes.
"Our cooking classes are a fun and effective way to integrate math and science concepts," said Melissa McGuire, the new director of St. Bartholomew Catholic Preschool, in the release. "We believe that by providing joyful learning environments enriched with a wide range of curricular experiences, our students will be better prepared for kindergarten and beyond.”
All St. Bart’s classes nurture Catholic faith development, prepare students for kindergarten, expose children to a variety of learning opportunities and foster respect, charitable acts, self-esteem and socialization.
The transition class will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. five days a week in the Religious Education Center, located at 5356 11th St. It will be open for children who are 5 years old by Nov. 1. Monthly tuition is $400, with a one-time $60 non-refundable supply fee and $100 registration fee.
