Katy Chamber to hold ribbon-cutting ceremony for School of Rock

The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the recently opened School of Rock at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 31 in Katy.

The event will be held in conjunction with other opening ceremonies held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the franchise location of 3750 S. Mason Road, Suite 800 in Katy. The school is just south of Westheimer Parkway in the strip center near El Asador Restaurant.

Founded as a single school in Philadelphia in 1998, School of Rock has become a growing international franchise. It operates 69 schools in the United States and Mexico.

According to a press release, School of Rock inspires youth to rock on stage and in life. It provides lessons on instruments and stage performance and is open from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Hours can vary at times during the summer, according to the school's website.
