Katy HS grad Carter Jurica homers in win for San Jose
Katy High School graduate Carter Jurica hit his fourth home run of the season, as San Jose beat Bakersfield 7-6 Wednesday.
Jurica went 1-for-4, with his two-run shot.
On the season, Jurica ia batting .292, with four home runs and 39 RBIs.
Jurica is a 2007 graduate of Katy High School. He went on to play college baseball at Kansas State for three seasons (2008 to 2010) posting a college career average of .333 with 20 home runs and 131 RBIs. As a junior in 2010, Jurica was named a Big Twelve Conference all-star left fielder after batting .363 with 13 homers and 69 RBIs.
He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the third round (105th overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. Jurica played 62 games during 2010 with the Giants Low Single-A affiliate, Salem-Kaiser, of the Northwest League. He batted .216 with three home runs and 31 RBIs.
Jurica was born Sept. 23, 1988 in Houston.
