FBSO to hold auditions for 2012-13 season Aug. 25
The Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra will hold auditions for the 2012-13 season from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday Aug. 25 at First United Methodist Church, 3900 Lexington Blvd., Missouri City.
The orchestra is looking for additional string players, with spots open for violin, viola, cello and bass. Openings are also immediately available for two French horn positions, a bassoon II player, tympani specialist and auxiliary percussion performers. Permanent and alternate positions will be filled. All musicians are unpaid volunteers.
The audition will include a sight-reading portion and a prepared 3- to 5-minute solo. Auditions are open to musicians high school age and older.
Rehearsals will be held at 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays at First United Methodist Church.
The orchestra is scheduled for five season subscription concerts throughout the upcoming year and two free performances.
