Katy High School graduate Carter Jurica had a monster game as the San Jose Giants beat the Lancaster JetHawks in minor league baseball action, 3-2, Saturday, Aug.11.

Jurica went 3-for-5 with a run driven in. On the season at San Jose, the Class A advanced affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, Jurica is batting .299 with five home runs and 46 RBIs.

Jurica is a 2007 graduate of Katy High School. He went on to play college baseball at Kansas State for three seasons (2008 to 2010) posting a career average of .333 with 20 home runs and 131 RBIs. As a junior in 2010, Jurica was named a Big XII Conference all-star left fielder after batting .363 with 13 homers and 69 RBIs.

He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the third round (105th overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. Jurica played 62 games during 2010 with the Giants Low Single-A affiliate, Salem-Kaiser, of the Northwest League. He batted .216 with three home runs and 31 RBIs.

Jurica was born Sept. 23, 1988 in Houston.
