Mayde Creek High releases varsity football schedule
Mayde Creek High School has released its varsity football schedule for the upcoming season.
The Rams and head coach Lance Carter will have the advantage of very little travel this season, playing nine of its 10 games - including the first eight - in front of their home fans at Rhodes Stadium.
Mayde Creek will be the home team for contests against non-district opponents Houston Cypress Springs High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31; Houston Cypress Lakes High School at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8; and Tomball High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14.
After an open date the weekend of Sept. 21, District 19 play opens with the Rams on the visitors' sidelines of Rhodes Stadium against Katy Seven Lakes High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28.
Katy High School visits Mayde Creek at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. Just five days later, the Rams will once again take the opposite side of the field, this time against Katy Cinco Ranch High School at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11.
With four games remaining on the schedule, the Rams will hold Senior Night against Houston Memorial High School at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
Mayde Creek will be the visiting team for its final three games of the regular season, first against Katy Morton Ranch High School at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at Rhodes Stadium; a true road contest in Week 10 at Houston Strake Jesuit High School's Crusader Stadium in Houston at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2; and the regular-season and district play finale against Katy Taylor High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Rhodes Stadium.
Should the Rams use their overall team speed to its advantage, improve its secondary play and reach the postseason, a contest in the first round of the 5A Region II state playoffs would take place the weekend of Nov. 16.
Mayde Creek plays its home games on artificial turf at the 9,768-seat Jack Rhodes Memorial Stadium, located at 1640 Katyland Drive, in Katy.
