Travis High School to take on Seven Lakes in football action, Sept. 15
The Fort Bend Travis High School football team will try to pick up its first win of the season this week when it takes on Katy Seven Lakes at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at Mercer Stadium.
The Tigers lost 33-27 in overtime to Houston Bellaire in their opener Friday, Sept. 7.
Travis, which led 14-12 at halftime, rolled up 287 yards. Stephen Oliver and Darius Bowen rushed for two touchdowns apiece in the setback. Bowen led the rushing attack with 112 yards.
Seven Lakes is 1-1 after knocking off Friendswood Clear Brook in a wild 45-42 overtime victory Friday, Sept. 7.
The Spartans racked up 577 yards and secured the win when Bryce Bowen nailed a 24-yard field goal. Seven Lakes was up 28-14 at halftime but did not score in the second half as Clear Brook rallied to tie the game at 28-28 in regulation.
Kyle Potsma threw for 273 yards and three touchdowns while Braeden West rushed for 255 yards and two touchdowns.
Travis will play at Rosenberg Terry on Friday, Sept. 21 in a 7:30 p.m. game and will play Hightower on Friday, Sept. 28 in a 7 p.m. game. The Tigers will play at Bush on Thursday, Oct. 4 in a 7 p.m. tilt.
Seven Lakes will play Mayde Creek on Friday, Sept. 28 and will play at Katy Taylor on Thursday, Oct. 4. The Spartans will play Strake Jesuit College Preparatory on Saturday, Oct. 13. All three games will begin at 7 p.m.
